Organic Farming

An exceptional terroir in the heart of Languedoc

The Château des Coccinelles vineyard is rooted in one of the region's finest soils: an ancient Rhône riverbed in Domazan, in the Gard department. This unique Rhône terroir combines a clay-limestone subsoil with a covering of rounded pebbles inherited from the river. These stones absorb solar heat during the day and gently release it to the vines at night, promoting a slow and precise ripening of the grapes—concentrating natural aromas and balance without forcing the process.

The Mediterranean climate plays a decisive role in the quality of this organic Chardonnay . The powerful Mistral wind naturally dries the plots, protects the grapes from humidity, and reduces the need for pesticides to an absolute minimum—a valuable advantage for the estate's organic viticulture practices. At 5,000 vines per hectare, the vines fully express the living character of a soil that has remained untreated for nearly fifty years.

Critical

Tasting Notes

The wine is a luminous pale gold , with golden highlights that hint at its ripeness. The nose, typically Chardonnay, is generous: ripe and enveloping aromas of melon and quince jelly unfold gently, enhanced by delicate white flower scents and subtle yeasty notes that testify to careful winemaking, respectful of the raw material.

On the palate, this award-winning white wine reveals its full depth. The attack is creamy and generous , supported by a substantial body that coats the palate without ever weighing it down. The buttery flavors characteristic of great Chardonnays unfold with elegance, leading to a warm and persistent finish of remarkable length. What is most striking is the integrity of the winemaking: no superfluous oak , no over-extraction—simply the fruit, the terroir, and the expertise. A solidly constructed , honest, and fully accomplished Chardonnay. Serve between 8 and 10°C for optimal expression.

Gastronomy

Food & Wine Pairings

The versatility of this organic, vegan, IGP Pays d'Oc Chardonnay makes it a remarkably adaptable companion at the table. As an aperitif , it is festive and refreshing: tapenades, fresh herb cheeses, hummus on toast, or vegan spring rolls are all natural partners.

Its vibrant, lemony character makes it a perfect match for fish —sole meunière, roasted sea bream, sea bass tartare with citrus—highlighting their delicate flavors without ever overpowering them. A welcome surprise: this award-winning, crisp white wine pairs remarkably well with Asian cuisine . From ginger vegetable stir-fry and lemongrass chickpea curry to crispy spring rolls or vegan sushi, the wine's natural acidity cuts through the umami and spicy flavors in a pairing that is both bold and perfectly natural.

FAQ — Your Questions About Our Chardonnay

Why choose an award-winning organic Chardonnay?

A medal-winning organic Chardonnay combines two essential guarantees: quality validated by a jury of independent experts in a blind tasting, and traceability from environmentally friendly farming practices. Choosing this wine means supporting clean viticulture, free from synthetic pesticides, while enjoying a wine whose excellence has been officially recognized. A rare double assurance, which Château des Coccinelles has been offering since 1978.

What is the special characteristic of the terroir of Château des Coccinelles?

The estate is located on a former Rhône riverbed in Domazan, in the Gard region. Its clay-limestone soil, covered with rounded pebbles, is particularly well-suited to vines: it absorbs solar heat during the day, promotes natural drainage, and releases gentle warmth at night. Combined with the Mistral wind , which naturally cleanses the vineyard, this Rhône terroir offers ideal conditions for producing an aromatic, balanced Chardonnay with a beautiful natural freshness.

How should this wine be served and stored?

To fully appreciate its aromas, serve this white wine chilled between 8 and 10°C . Remove the bottle from the refrigerator about 10 minutes before opening to allow it time to fully express itself. It can be kept for 2 to 3 years under good conditions (cool cellar, away from light). Once opened, consume it within 24 to 48 hours to enjoy its full aromatic vibrancy.

Is this Chardonnay vegan?

Château des Coccinelles has opted for 100% vegan winemaking . While many producers still use fining agents of animal origin—gelatin, egg albumin, casein—to clarify their wines, our Chardonnay is clarified without any animal products. The clarification process relies exclusively on natural, plant-based methods, respecting both the integrity of the wine and the convictions of vegan consumers.
