The concept: Paint and Sip & Tasting

Chai d’œuvre is an original wine art workshop at Château des Coccinelles, designed as a true artistic, social, and sensory experience. Stemming from a strong trend originating in Anglo-Saxon countries, the Paint and Sip concept (literally "Paint and Sip") is based on a fundamental principle: conviviality takes precedence over technical performance.

Wine here becomes a creative material in its own right, a living pigment and an infinite source of inspiration. Participants are introduced to the fascinating techniques of wine painting, curiously taste the estate's vintages, exchange impressions, and share a moment of pure disconnection. Margaux will reveal how the terroir is reflected not only on the palate but also on the paper's grain. The goal is not to achieve academic perfection but to savor the present moment, free one's mind, and awaken dormant creativity.

An activity simply ideal for celebrating love as a couple, making a splash for a bachelorette party, celebrating a birthday, gathering a group of friends, or organizing an unusual and memorable outing in the Gard region.

Venue, atmosphere, and schedule

An exceptional location

The workshop comes to life in the enchanting setting of the Château des Coccinelles, located in the charming commune of Domazan in the Gard. This historic family estate benefits from a privileged geographical location, at the crossroads of Provence and Occitania, ideally nestled between the ramparts of Avignon, the arenas of Nîmes, the elegance of Uzès and the majesty of the Pont du Gard.

The atmosphere

Imagine a warm space, surrounded by oak barrels and imbued with the sweet aromas of fermentation and ripe fruit. The setting is authentic, soothing, and conducive to gentle concentration. Light ambient music, smiles, and the murmur of conversations create a bubble of well-being where the stress of everyday life instantly evaporates.

The experience unfolds

1. The Welcome: Your immersion begins with a friendly welcome to the estate, followed by a short introduction to our wine philosophy.
2. The Initiation: Margaux then takes over to introduce you to the equipment and the basics of wine paint. She explains how to play with humidity, wine density, and drying times.
3. Creation & Tasting: Time for practice! You create your own artwork while enjoying a commented tasting of three of our emblematic cuvées.
4. Sharing: The workshop concludes with a warm moment of exchange around your respective creations, before proudly leaving with your masterpiece.

Our wine art workshop has been designed to suit all desires and profiles. Whether you are a curious wine lover, a creative spirit looking for something new, or simply seeking a pleasant moment, this experience is for you.

Margaux will teach you how to master this medium, play with its subtle nuances, and create shadows through layering to produce a true work of wine art. A unique piece that tells your own story, directly drawn from the heart of our exceptional terroir.

Everything you need to know

Frequently Asked Questions about the Chai d'Oeuvre Workshop

Do you need to know how to paint or draw to participate?

Absolutely not! The vast majority of our participants haven't touched a paintbrush since primary school. The workshop is completely designed for and accessible to beginners. Margaux is there to guide you step-by-step, show you the right techniques in your introduction to wine paint, and reassure you. The sole objective is to have fun, discover a new sensation, and have a great time, without any pressure to perform.

Who is leading the Chai d'œuvre workshop?

The workshop is led by Margaux, a professional illustrator working under the pseudonym Nanoushka. Passionate about art, wine, and sharing knowledge, she guides participants with incredible gentleness, a lot of pedagogy, and kindness throughout this wonderful creative experience.

How long does the full experience last?

Allow approximately 2 hours on site. This timeframe is ideal and perfectly calculated to give you enough time to arrive at your leisure, taste our wines without rushing, chat with the group, learn the artistic technique, and calmly complete your wine art canvas.

Where exactly is the workshop taking place?

The workshop takes place in the heart of our family winery, Château des Coccinelles, located at 6 Rue des Écoles, in Domazan (30390) in the Gard department. We are extremely easy to access, just a few minutes' drive from Avignon, Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, and Nîmes.

What exactly does the €50 fee include?

The €50 per person fee is all-inclusive. It includes all professional materials needed for creation (heavy-grade watercolor paper, assortment of brushes, wine as pigment, palettes, protective aprons), personalized guidance by illustrator Margaux, as well as a friendly tasting of 3 of our emblematic vintages during the workshop.

Does wine painting fade or change color over time?

That's the whole poetry of wine art! The color doesn't fade, but it will evolve beautifully. Red wine is a living natural pigment. Over time and with exposure to air, the purplish or ruby hues of your painting will gently transform to take on warmer, coppery, and sepia tones, giving your artwork an absolutely superb vintage and authentic look.

Can we buy wine on site after the workshop?

Yes, with great pleasure! After the Paint and Sip workshop concludes, the Château des Coccinelles winery shop will be open to you. If you fell in love with one of the vintages tasted during the session (or those used for painting!), you will have the opportunity to purchase them directly at the preferential estate price to extend the experience at home.
